Did you know, that beekeeping is possible not inly in rural areas, but in urban as well? As Łysoń Apiary Company we see a huge potential in urban apiaries. Erecting hives in cities–on roofs, terraces of buildings or green areas is needed and future-oriented.
An urban apiary is a good idea for diversification the urban landscape, its environmental and tourist values. Bees, that are bred these days are really gentle and don't pose a threat for people. Properly managed bee colonies do not disturb inhabitants. Actually, bees may not even be noticed.
In European countries or in the United States, the trend of beekeeping in urban areas has been maintained for several decades. Until recently, in many Polish cities keeping bees was banned for fear of stings and swarms, however nowadyas everything is changing for the better. Bees in urban area cease to arouse anxiety, social awarness of their breeding significantly increased. Contrary to some opinions, in the city they do not lack foraging area (altough this can be taken care of additionally). At the same time bees bring many benefits.
Many global companies invest in apiaries in order to contribute to the ecology and increase prestige. Polish companies are also beginning to see image - potential in this. Customers of companies, hotels and restaurants treated to honey from the company's apiary can appreciate this gesture. Moreover, urban honey is free of impurities, what has been confirmed by professional research. In addition, its taste is often unique because the nectar from which it is produced comes from a various plants, that are not always found in the countryside.
