It is produced from honeydew collected by bees, i.e. a sweet secretion of aphids or other insects that feed on plant juices. It’s color is dark, from gray-green to almost black. This honey is rich in resins, essential oils and macroelements.
In comparison with nectar honey, the content of nitrogen compounds, minerals, dextrins, enzymes, organic acids and antibiotic substances are usually higher. Its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and expectorant action makes this honey very well suited for colds, flu or pneumonia.
